Parenting in a Technological World

These days children have more and more access to technology. Children have cell phones at a younger age. They often have their own computer in their room, and watch TV and play video games as entertainment with friends.

While this offers a lot of great resources (easy contact outside the home, research for papers, and something to do on yet another snow day), it also opens up more doors of temptation. Teenagers and even children are much more exposed to sexual temptation on the TV, internet and even with “sexting” (texting about sex).

Our job as parents is to help children navigate this world of temptations and learn how to deal with the new doorways of technology. The Lutheran Witness, an LC-MS magazine, has a wonderful article with more detail on the temptations our youth face as well as resources on how to work with our children.

You can find a copy of the article in the church office or library, as well as at: http://www.lcms.org/pages/wPage.asp?ContentID=932&IssueID=52. If you have any of your own questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to talk to Pastor Pool or Deaconess Sarah.

For real, you should check it out. It's a great article!
